Abbreviations
WS.     Wrong Side

RS.      Right Side
ch.      Chain
sc.       Single Crochet
dc.       Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
sl st.   Slip Stitch

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Finished size approx:  36.5 x 36.5 Inches

Materials
I have used:-
400 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in Color 1
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Color 2

OR an equivalent yarn i.e
14oz of Worsted Weight #3 in Color 1
3.5oz of Worsted Weight #3 in Color 2
a suggested yarn for this would be Red Heart Baby Hugs Yarn

6.00mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks

GAUGE – 4sc and 4 rows of sc measures approx 1 Inch

With color 1 and 6.00mm hook ch123 loosely, work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (122sc)

Row 2 to 9 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 10 – ch3, * skip 1sc, 1dc in each of next 2sc, working over last 2dc made, work 1dc in last skipped sc, (this makes the cross), * rpt from * to * to last sc, work 1dc in sc. Turn.

Row 11 to 19 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn.

Rpt Rows 10 to 19 eleven more times or until work measures approx 32.5 Inches. Turn.

Blanket Edge – Change to 5.00mm hook, ch1, 1sc in each to last sc to last sc, 3sc in sc, work 128sc evenly in row ends down first side of blanket, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along the cast on edge, 3sc in corner, work 128sc evenly in row ends up the second side of blanket, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc all around 4 sides of blanket, working 3sc in corners and sl st to first sc on the end of each row. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in color 2 and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 7 more rows in sc, working 3sc in corners and sl st to first sc on the end of each row. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, (1sc, ch3, 1sc) in base of ch1, * skip 1sc, (1sc, ch3, 1sc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * around all 4 sides of the blanket to last sc, skip sc, sl st to first sc on the beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off.
