Crochet Cowl-Rose Corsage

A pretty and fashionable free crochet cowl-rose corsage crochet    pattern, spring is in the air and this light and narrow design is just the thing over a thin sweater.

Made in worsted weight #3 yarn on a 4.50mm hook, it’s soft and lacy too.

Abbreviations
ch.     Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
hdc.   Half Double Crochet
dc.     Double Crochet
trc.    Treble Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
sl st.  Slip Stitch

Shell. (2dc, ch1, 2dc)

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc
ch5 counts as first dc and 2ch

Approx Finished Size:  3.5 inch wide x 34 Inch circumference

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
45 grams of Paintbox Simply DK in color 1
Small amount of Paintbox Simply DK in color 2
Small amount of Paintbox Simply DK in color 3

OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
1.6oz of Worsted Weight #3 in color 1
Small amount of Worsted Weight #3 in color 2
Small amount of Worsted Weight #3 in color 3

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

Cowl – With color 1 ch21, 1 shell (see abbrev) in 6th ch from hook, * ch1, skip 5ch, 1 shell in next ch, * rpt from * to * once, skip 2ch, 1dc in last ch. Turn. (3 shells)

Next Row – ch3, * 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, ch2, 1sc in ch1 space between shells, ch2, * rpt from * to * once, work 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, 1dc in top of ch5. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 – ch3, * 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, ch1, * rpt from * to * once, 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – ch3, * 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, ch2, 1sc in ch1 space between shells, ch2, * rpt from * to * once, 1 shell in ch1 space of next shell, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row 1 & 2 thirty two more times or until your work measures approx 34 inches.

Next Row – ch5, * sl st in ch1 space of next shell, ch5, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Fold so short sides of cowl line up, working through both pieces, ch1, sl st in each ch across to join and make a round. Fasten off.

Weave in ends and trim off, turn through so seam is on the inside.

Rose Corsage – With color 2 ch30, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. (29sc)

Petals
ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 4hdc in next sc, 1sc in next sc, 4hdc in next sc, 1sc in next sc. (first petal), * 5dc in next sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * four more times. (second petal), # 7trc in next sc, 1sc in next sc, # rpt from # to # 6 more times. (third petal), Fasten off.

Roll flower up working from first to third petal and sew to secure at the back of the flower.

Leaf (make 2) – With color 3 ch10, 3dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each of next ch3, 1hdc in next ch, 1sc in next ch,  (sl st, ch2, sl st) in last ch, (makes a point), working on opposite side of cast on ch, work 1sc in next ch, 1hdc in next ch, 1dc in each of next ch3, 3dc in last ch, sl st to top of ch3. Fasten off.

Finishing – Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn, attach the rose corsage to the cowl and the leaves randomly to the flower.

Don’t forget to pin it.
