Crochet Cowl-Rose Corsage

Cowl-Rose Corsage crochet – Spring is in the air and this light and narrow design is just the thing over a thin sweater. Made in worsted weight #3 yarn on a 4.50mm hook, it’s soft and lacy too.

Shell. (2tr, 1ch, 2tr)

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr
5ch counts as first tr and 2ch

Approx Finished Size:  3.5 inch wide x 34 Inch circumference

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
45 grams of Paintbox Simply DK in colour 1
Small amount of Paintbox Simply DK in colour 2
Small amount of Paintbox Simply DK in colour 3

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

Cowl – With colour 1 make 21ch, 1 shell (see abbrev) into 6th ch from hook, * make 1ch, miss 5ch, 1 shell into next ch, * rpt from * to * once, miss 2ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (3 shells)

Next Row – 3ch, * 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, make 2ch, 1dc into 1ch space between shells, make 2ch, * rpt from * to * once, work 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, 1tr into top of 5ch. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 – 3ch, * 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * once, 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – 3ch, * 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, make 2ch, 1dc into 1ch space between shells, make 2ch, * rpt from * to * once, 1 shell into 1ch space of next shell, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row 1 & 2 thirty two more times or until your work measures approx 34 inches.

Next Row – 5ch, * ss into 1ch space of next shell, make 5ch, * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Fold so short sides of cowl line up, working through both pieces, ch1, ss into each ch across to join and make a round. Fasten off.

Weave in ends and trim off, turn through so seam is on the inside.

Rose Corsage – With colour 2 make 30ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. (29dc)

Petals
Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 4htr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, 4htr into next dc, 1dc into next dc. (first petal), * 5tr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * four more times. (second petal), # 7dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, # rpt from # to # 6 more times. (third petal), Fasten off.

Roll flower up working from first to third petal and sew to secure at the back of the flower.

Leaf (make 2) – With colour 3 make 10ch, 3tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each of next 3ch, 1htr into next ch, 1dc into next ch,  (ss, 2ch, ss) into last ch, (makes a point), working on opposite side of cast on ch, work 1dc into next ch, 1htr into next ch, 1tr into each of next 3ch, 3tr into last ch, ss to top of 3ch. Fasten off.

Finishing – Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn, attach the rose corsage to the cowl and the leaves randomly to the flower.
