dc.       Double Crochet
htr.      Half Double Crochet

tr.        Treble Crochet

With colour 1 make a length of ch’s into multiples of 4 + 2.

Work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into next ch, * make 2ch, miss 2ch’s, 1tr into each of next 2ch, rpt from * to * to last ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (8, blocks of 2tr + 2, blocks of 3)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, Make 2ch, miss 2tr, * working over the 2ch and into the un-worked foundation chains on row below, work 1tr into each of the next 2ch, (this will enclose the 2ch from first row), 2ch, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to 3ch to turn, 1dc into top 3ch. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 2

Pattern Row 1 – 3ch, * working over the 2ch and into the top of the tr’s from the row below, work 1tr into each of next 2tr, make 2ch, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space and dc, work 1tr into each of 2tr on row below, 1tr into dc. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, make 2ch, miss next 2tr, * working over the next 2ch and into the top of the tr’s from two rows below, work 1tr into each of next 2tr, make 2ch, miss next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to 3ch to turn, 1dc into top of 3ch. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 1

Continue rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 alternating colours as you go.

When you have reached the length you require work the following:-

Closing Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * working over the next 2ch and into the top of the tr’s from two rows below, work 1htr into each of next 2tr, 1dc into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space and dc, work 1htr into each of next 2tr on row below, 1dc into dc. Fasten off.

Weave in and trim ends.
