Crochet Project Square

This is an easy basic crochet project square for you to make, use for coasters or make
loads and join them together to make bags, cushions, blankets, table mats and the list
goes on and on lol.

I hope you enjoy making them, have fun by playing with the colors and come up with
different combinations.

Abbreviations
RS.     Right Side
ch.     Chain
dc.     Double Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
sl st.  Slip Stitch
yo.     Yarn Over

dc2tog.  Leaving last loop of each dc on hook, work 2dc in same space or stitch, yo and
draw through all loops. See pictorial here

dc3tog.  Leaving last loop of each dc on hook, work 3dc in same space or stitch, yo and
draw through all loops.

ch3 counts as first dc

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Approx Finished Size:   4 Inches x 4 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn
I have used:-
Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK in colors 1 & 2

OR
Small amounts of Worsted Weight #3 in colors 1 & 2

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

With color 1 ch8, sl st to first ch to make a ring, ch3, (RS) work 15dc in ring, sl st to top
of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Join in color 2 with a sl st to top of ch3.

Row 2 – ch3, dc2tog (see abbrev) in base of ch3, * ch3, skip 1dc, dc3tog (see abbrev) in
next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, ch3, skip dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
Fasten off.

May appear to be pulling at this stage, but will flatten out on next 2 rows.

project square diamondJoin in color 1 with a sl st to first ch3 space.

Row 3 – ch3, 3dc in same ch3 space, * ch3, skip dc3tog, work 4dc in next ch3 space, * rpt
from * to * to end, ch3, skip dc3tog, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Join in color 2 with a sl st to first ch3 space.

Row 4 – ch3, (4dc, ch2, 5dc) in same space, * skip 4dc, work 5dc in next ch3 space,  skip
4dc, (5dc, ch2, 5dc) in next ch3 space, * rpt from * to * twice, skip 4dc, 5dc in next ch3
space, skip 4dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
