Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Size to fit: 16 inch chest 0-3 Month Baby
Finished length from shoulder approx 9 inches
Sleeve Length approx 6 inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-

50 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK yarn in color 1
110 grams of King Cole Drifter DK Yarn in color 2

4.50mm & 3.50mm crochet hooks, 5 Medium Buttons

GAUGE – 6dc and 3 rows of dc measures approx 1 inch using 3.50mm hook

Jacket (Back) – With 3.50mm hook and color 1, ch54, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (51dc + ch3)

Second Row – ch3, * 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Second Row twice more. Fasten off.

Fifth Row – Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to last dc and 3tch, skip 1dc, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (51sc)

Pattern Row 1 – ch1, sl st in base of ch1,* 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, 1dc in next sc, sl st in last sc. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn. (51sc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 21 complete patterns have been worked in all from the rib or your work measures approx 9 inches from the beginning.

Fasten off.

First Front – # # With 3.50mm hook and color 1, ch26, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (23dc + ch3)

Row 2 – ch3, * 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Row 2 twice more. Fasten off.

Row 5 – Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to last dc and 3tch, skip dc, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (23sc)

Continue with Pattern Rows 1 and 2 from back of cardigan until 17 complete patterns have been worked or work measures approx 7.5 inches. Turn. (23sc) # #

Shape Neck – ch1, sl st in base of ch1,* 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 4sc, turn leaving last 4sc un-worked. (19st)

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end. Turn. (19sc).

Row Three – ch1, sl st in base of ch1,* 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, turn leaving last 2sc un-worked. (17st)

Row Four – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end. Turn. (17sc)

Rpt Rows Three & Four once. Turn. (15sc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from back until 21 complete patterns have been worked in all from rib or work measures approx 9 inches from beginning

Fasten off.

Second Front – Rpt from # # to # # from First Front. Turn.

Fasten off.

Shape Neck – Skip 4sc, sl st in next sc, 1dc in next sc * sl st in next sc, 1dc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, sl st in last sc. Turn. (19st)

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end. Turn. (19sc)

3rd Row – ch1, sl st over first 3sc, * 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (17st)

4th Row – ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end. Turn. (17sc)

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows once. Turn. (15sc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from back until front measures same as back.

Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With 3.50mm hook and color 1, ch34, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (31dc + ch3)

Next Row – ch3 * 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (31dc + ch3)

Rpt last row twice more. Fasten off.

5th Row – Join in color 2, ch1, work 1sc in each dc to last dc and 3tch, skip 1dc, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (31sc)

6th Row – (Inc Row) ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, sl st in next sc, * dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, work 2sc in last sc. Turn. (33st)

7th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

8th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 1 from back.

9th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

10th Row – (Inc Row) ch1, (1sc, 1sl st) in base of ch1, * dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, 1dc in next sc, work (1sl st, 1sc) in last sc. Turn. (35st)

11th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

12th Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st in next sc, * dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, 1sc in sc. Turn.

13th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

Rpt 6th to 13th Rows twice. (you should have 43sc)

Rpt 12th & 13th Rows. Fasten off

You should have 13 completed patterns worked from rib and work measures approx 6 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Front Borders x 2 (Work both bands the same) – With RS facing and 4.50mm hook rejoin contrast color yarn with a sl st in first stitch, starting with ch3, work 41dc evenly along front edge to neck. Turn. (41dc + ch3)

Next Row – ch3, * work 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.

With 4.50mm hook slip stitch both shoulder seams to back of cardigan.

Collar – With RS facing, contrast color and 4.50mm hook join yarn to neck edge after front band with a sl st, ch3, work 55dc evenly all around neck edge to before front band on second side. Turn. (55dc + ch3) 

Next Row – ch3, * 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt last row 8 more times, making 10 rows in all for collar. Fasten off.

Finishing – Fold sleeves in half, place centre to shoulder seams and with 4.50mm hook sl st in position, sl st the side and sleeve seams together, sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn. Turn through to RS.

Fold collar back and tack to cardigan to secure. Sew on buttons, use gaps between dc’s for buttonholes.
