Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
50 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK yarn in colour 1

110 grams of King Cole Drifter DK Yarn in colour 2

4.50mm & 3.50mm crochet hooks, 5 Medium Buttons

TENSION – 6tr and 3 rows of tr measures approx 1 inch using 3.50mm hook

Jacket (Back) – With 3.50mm hook and colour 1, make 54ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (51tr + 3ch)

Second Row – 3ch, * 1fptr into next tr, 1bptr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt Second Row twice more. Fasten off.

Fifth Row – Join in colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to last tr and 3tch, miss 1tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (51dc)

Pattern Row 1 – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch,* 1tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1tr into next dc, ss into last dc. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (51dc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 21 complete patterns have been worked in all from the rib or work measures approx 9 inches from the beginning.

Fasten off.

First Front – # # With 3.50mm hook and colour 1, make 26ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (23tr + 3ch)

Row 2 – 3ch, * 1fptr into next tr, 1bptr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt Row 2 twice more. Fasten off.

Row 5 – Join in colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to last tr and 3tch, miss tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (23dc)

Continue with Pattern Rows 1 and 2 from back of cardigan until 17 complete patterns have been worked or work measures approx 7.5 inches. Turn. (23dc) # #

Shape Neck – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch,* 1tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc, turn leaving last 4dc un-worked. (19st)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn. (19dc)

Row Three – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch,* 1tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, turn leaving last 2dc un-worked. (17st)

Row Four – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn. (17dc)

Rpt Rows Three & Four once. Turn. (15dc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from back until 21 complete patterns have been worked in all from rib or work measures approx 9 inches from beginning

Fasten off.

Second Front – Rpt from # # to # # from First Front. Turn.

Fasten off.

Shape Neck – Miss 4dc, ss into next dc, 1tr into next dc * ss into next dc, 1tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, ss into last dc. Turn. (19st)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn. (19dc)

3rd Row – 1ch, ss over first 3dc, * 1tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (17st)

4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn. (17dc)

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows once. Turn. (15dc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from back until front measures same as back.

Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With 3.50mm hook and colour 1, make 34ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (31tr + 3ch)

Next Row – 3ch * 1fptr into next tr, 1bptr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (31tr + 3ch)

Rpt last row twice more. Fasten off.

5th Row – Join in colour 2, make 1ch, work 1dc into each tr to last tr and 3tch, miss 1tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (31dc)

6th Row – (Inc Row) 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, ss into next dc, * tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, work 2dc into last dc. Turn. (33st)

7th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

8th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 1 from back.

9th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

10th Row – (Inc Row) 1ch, (1dc, 1ss) into base of 1ch, * tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1tr into next dc, work (1ss, 1dc) into last dc. Turn. (35st)

11th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

12th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, ss into next dc, * tr into next dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc into dc. Turn.

13th Row – Rpt Pattern Row 2 from back.

Rpt 6th to 13th Rows twice. (you should have 43dc)

Rpt 12th & 13th Rows. Fasten off

You should have 13 completed patterns worked from rib and work measures approx 6 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Front Borders x 2 (Work both bands the same) – With RS facing and 4.50mm hook rejoin contrast colour yarn with a ss into first stitch, starting with 3ch, work 41tr evenly along front edge to neck. Turn. (41tr + 3ch)

Next Row – 3ch, * work 1fptr into next tr, 1bptr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.

With 4.50mm hook slip stitch both the shoulder seams to back of cardigan.

Collar – With RS facing, contrast colour and 4.50mm hook join yarn to neck edge after front band with a ss, 3ch, work 55tr evenly all around neck edge to before front band on second side. Turn. (55tr + 3ch) 

Next Row – 3ch, * 1fptr into next tr, 1bptr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt last row 8 more times, making 10 rows in all for collar. Fasten off.

Finishing – Fold sleeves in half, place the centre to the shoulder seams and with a 4.50mm hook ss into position, ss the side and sleeve seams together, sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn. Turn through to RS.

Fold collar back and tack to cardigan to secure. Sew on buttons, use gaps between tr’s for buttonholes.

Next Row – ch3, * 1fpdc in next dc, 1bpdc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt last row 8 more times, making 10 rows in all for collar. Fasten off.

Finishing – Fold sleeves in half, place centre to shoulder seams and with 4.50mm hook sl st in position, sl st the side and sleeve seams together, sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn. Turn through to RS.

Fold collar back and tack to cardigan to secure. Sew on buttons, use gaps between dc’s for buttonholes.
