Brimmed Cotton Sun Hat – Cover your head in the sun with this brimmed sun hat, made in a soft cotton and crocheted in double and single crochet it is easy to make.

Once made up just put it on and go. I have written it in both USA and UK formats, scoll down the page for the FREE pattern.

80 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3 cotton

Made in rounds without turning until the end of 16th Row.

Make a magic circle, ch2, 14dc in ring, pull loose thread to close circle, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (14dc)

2nd Row – (Inc row) ch2, 2dc in base of ch2, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (28dc)

3rd Row – (Inc row) ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (42dc)

4th Row – (Inc row) ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, 1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (56dc)

5th Row – (Inc row) ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 2dc in next dc, * 1dc in each of next 3dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. (70dc)

ch3 counts as first dc.

6th Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * skip 1dc, 2dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, skip dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (35, 2dc groups)

7th Row – sl st in space between ch3 and next dc, ch3, work 1dc in same space, * skip 2dc, 2dc in space between next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.

8th to 16th Row – Rpt 7th Row.

Turn at the end of the 16th Row.
