Sweet and pretty round crochet mat-coaster uk format pattern, I have used double knitting yarn to crochet them, but double knitting cotton will work just as well, you can make the large one on its own to use as a doily or make them all as a complete set.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
20 grams of Paintbox Simple DK in each of the colours 1, 2 & 3

Made in rounds without turning throughout.
Large Mat – # Using color 1 make magic circle, work 3ch, (RS) 12tr into circle, pull loose thread to close, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off. (12tr + 3ch)
Round 2 – Join in colour 2, make 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (25tr + 3ch)
Round 3 – Join in colour 3, make 4ch, 1tr into base of 4ch, * miss 1tr, vst (see abbrev) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (13 vst) #
Round 4 – Join colour 1 to first 1ch space, make 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 2tr) into same 1ch space, work 1shell (see abbrev) into each 1ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (13 shells)
Round 5 – Join colour 2 to first 2ch space, make 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 2tr) into same 2ch space, work 1shell into each 2ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
Round 6 – Join colour 3 to first 2ch space, make 4ch, 1tr into base of 4ch, * work vst
into space between next 2 shells, vst into 2ch space of shell * rpt from * to * to end,
vst into space between last 2 shells, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (26 vst)
Round 7 – Join colour 1 to first 1ch space, rpt Round 4. Fasten off. (26 shells)
Round 8 – Join colour 2 to first 2ch space, rpt Round 5. Fasten off.
Round 9 – Join colour 3 to first 2ch space, make 4ch, 1tr into base of 4ch, * work vst into space between next 2 shells, vst into 2ch space of each of next 2 shells, * rpt from * to * to last shell, vst into space before last shell, vst into 2ch space of the last shell, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (39 vst)
Round 10 – Join colour 1 to first 1ch space, make 3ch, (1tr, 3ch, 2tr) into same 1ch space, work (2tr, 3ch, 2tr) into each 1ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (39 shells)
Coaster – Rpt from # to # on large mat.
Next Round – Rpt Round 10 from large mat. Fasten off. (13 shells)
Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off.
