Free Crochet beanie hat pattern, this one is an easy, fun and great for beginners pattern, it is simple to make and is cozy, comfortable and warm to wear.
It is crocheted in crunch stitch which is an easy 2 row repeat design and one of my favourite stitches.
The samples have been made in an Aran #5 yarn. Hope you enjoy!

Formats
Two easy formats have been used to write this free crochet beanie hat pattern for UK crocheters and USA crafters.
Best Yarn
For great results from this free crochet beanie hat pattern it is always best to use the recommended yarn in the pattern materials section.
I have used King Cole Comfort Aran in white, navy, cornflower, sky, candy pink, shrimp and grey for the samples of the beanie hats, but the choice is yours.
Crochet Hook Size
Pattern asks for a 5.00mm and 6.00mm crochet hooks, but you can change hook sizes higher or lower to make looser or tighter tension/gauge.

Small amounts of King Cole Comfort Aran yarn in each of colours 2, 3 & 4

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
With 5.00mm hook make 20ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (19dc)
2nd Row – Working through BLO make 1ch, work 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until work measures approx 18 inches from beginning or you have worked approx 79 rows from beginning. Turn.
Fold your work in half widthways and slip stitch the last row you just worked and the starting chain edge together to make a round. DNFO.
Change to 6.00mm hook, work 1dc into each row end to end, ss to first dc. Turn (80dc)
Second Row – 1ch, 1htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * ss into next dc, 1htr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, work 1htr into next dc, miss 1dc, ss to first htr. Turn. (79 stitches)
Third Row – 1ch, 1htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * ss into next htr, 1htr into next ss, * rpt from * to * to last ss, work 1htr into ss, ss to first htr. Turn.
Rpt Third Row in colour sequence as follows:-
Seven rows in colour 1, four rows in colour 2, four rows in colour 3, four rows in colour 4, four rows in colour 1, four rows in colour 2, three rows in colour 3.
Decrease Row – With colour 3, make 1ch, * 1dc into each of next 2 stitches, dec 1dc (see abbrev) over next 2 stitches, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off. (57dc)
Join in colour 4 and rpt Decrease Row twice.
Decrease Row 2 – 1ch, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off leaving a length of yarn to gather the top with. (17dc)
Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends, turn through to RS, fold up brim, add faux fur pom-pom to crown.
