My free crochet blanket afghan square uk format design measures approximately 6 Inches by 6 inches, so it is great for Lapghans, throws and lots of other projects, such as tote bags, table mats, pot holders etc. It is made in double knitting yarn in three colours but will look just as good in one.

yrh, insert into st and pull up loop, (twice) yrh, draw through 4 loops, yrh pull through 2 loops.
tr3tog. Leaving last loop of each tr on hook, work 3tr into next stitch or space, yrh pull through all loops.
Base of ch. Work into first stitch
3ch counts as first tr
Finished size approx: 6 Inches x 6 Inches
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK Yarn in each of the colours 1, 2 & 3

Made in rounds without turning throughout.
Using colour 1 make 6ch, ss to first ch to make a ring, (RS) work 1ch, 8dc into ring, ss to first dc on beginning of row.
Round 2 – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (15tr + 3ch)
Round 3 – Join in colour 2 into top of 3ch, make 1ch, 1ps (see — abbrev) into base of 1ch, make 1ch, * 1ps into next tr, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of ps on beginning of round. (16ps)
Round 4 – ss to first 1ch space, make 3ch, leaving last loop of each tr on hook work 2tr into same 1ch space, yrh and pull through all loops, * make 2ch, tr3tog (see abbrev) into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, make 2ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (16, tr3tog)
Round 5 – Join in colour 3 to first 2ch space, make 4ch (2dtr, 3ch, 3dtr) into same 2ch space, 3tr into each of next three 2ch spaces, * (3dtr, 3ch, 3dtr) into next 2ch space, 3tr into each of next three 2ch spaces, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 4ch on beginning of round.
Round 6 – 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2dtr, * (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) into next 3ch space, 1tr into each of next 15st, * rpt from * to * to last corner, (3tr, 3ch, 3tr) into 3ch space on corner, 1tr into each of next 12st, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
Round 7 – Join in colour 1, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 5tr, * (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into next 3ch space, 1dc into each of next 21tr, rpt from * to * to last corner, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into 3ch space on corner, 1dc into each of next 15tr, ss to first dc on beginning of round.
Round 8 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into all 2ch spaces on corners. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn, and trim off.
