Crochet hatch beanie hat, an easy textured stitch is used in this lovely hat, using a mixture of dc (sc) and tr (dc) stitches, this pattern is quick to stitch and completely free, it is a unisex pattern with a shaped top.

ch. Chain
dc. Double Crochet
tr. Treble Crochet
rpt. Repeat
ss. Slip Stitch
yrh. Yarn Round Hook
BLO. Back Loop Only
tch. Turning Chain
dc2tog. Double Crochet Two Together
Pull up loop on next 2dc, yrh, pull through all loops.
Hatch Group. (3ch, 3tr) into same space or stitch.
Base of ch. Work into first stitch
Size to fit: Adult head, 19 inches circumference x 9 inches high
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
110 grams of Caron Simply Soft yarn
An equivalent yarn would be an aran weight
4.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks, medium size faux fur pom-pom

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Ribbing – With 4.50mm hook make 8ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (7dc)
2nd Row – Working into BLO, work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 84 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.
Fold work in half and sl st last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.
Change to 5.00mm hook.
Main Piece – Turn your work so you are working into the row ends of ribbing, with ss seam facing, make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end along side of brim to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (84dc)
Second Row – Work (3ch, 3tr) into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 3dc, (ss, 3ch, 3tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, miss 3dc, ss to the stitch at the base of the 3ch on the beginning of the row, ss into 3tch space on beginning of row. Turn. (21 hatch groups)
Third Row – 3ch, work 3tr into the next stitch, * miss 3tr, work (ss, 3ch, 3tr) into next 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss 2tr, ss into the next tr, ss into 3tch space on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Third Row until 14 hatch group rows have been worked in all. Turn.
Shape Top – 3ch, work 2tr into the next stitch, * miss 3tr, work (ss, 3ch, 2tr) into next 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss 2tr, ss into the next tr, ss into the 3tch space on the beginning of the row, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
15th Row – 3ch, work 1tr into the next stitch, * miss 2tr, work (ss, 3ch, 1tr) into next 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr, miss 1tr, ss into the next tr, ss into the 3tch space on the beginning of the row. Turn.
16th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the next stitch, * work 1dc into next tr, 1dc into top of 3ch, * rpt from * to * to last tr, work 1dc into tr, ss to the dc on the beginning of the row. Turn. (42dc)
17th Row – 1ch, dc2tog over the stitch at the base of the 1ch and next dc, * dc2tog over next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on the beginning of the row. Turn. (21dc)
18th Row – Rpt last row ending 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on the beginning of the row. Turn. (11dc)
19th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end, ss to first dc on the beginning of row. Fasten off leaving length of yarn.
Finishing – Using length of yarn gather the top of the hat, weave in and trim off ends of loose yarn, attach faux fur pom-pom.
