Crochet Leafy Flower Pattern – Making flowers is one of my favourite things to crochet, I have been making them for a long time now and have done many in different colour combinations.

I have also added a leaf to this one for decoration.

Pattern Number CNC378

Skill Level: Intermediate

Abbreviations UK
ch.      Chain
dc.      Double Crochet
htr.     Half Treble Crochet

tr.       Treble Crochet
rpt.     Repeat

ss.      Slip Stitch
yrh.    Yarn Round Hook 

tr2tog.
Leaving last loop of each tr on hook, work 2tr into next stitch, yrh draw through all 3 loops.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

3ch counts as first tr on beginning of a row.

Approx size to fit:  4.5 x 4.5 inches point to point

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used:-

Small amounts of King Cole Comfort DK in each of the colours 1, 2, 3 & 4

4.00mm crochet hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Flower – Worked in rounds without turning throughout.

With colour 1 make 4ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, 1ch, 8dc into ring, ss to first dc. (8dc)

Row 2 – 1ch, 2dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. (16dc) Fasten off.

Row 3 – Join in colour 2, make 2ch, 1tr into stitch at base of 3ch, tr2tog (see abbrev) into each dc to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Fasten off. (15, tr2tog, 1tr + 2ch)

If the row appears to be pulling slightly it will flatten out on next row.

Row 4 – Join in colour 3 to a tr2tog, 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 2tr) into same tr2tog, * miss 1tr2tog, (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) into next tr2tog, * rpt from * to * to last tr2tog, miss last tr2tog, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (8, Petals)

Row 5 – 1ch, 1dc into space below (between petals), work * (3tr, 3ch, 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, 3tr) into next petal, 1dc into space between next 2 petals, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Leaf
With colour 4 make 10ch, 3tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each of next 3ch, 1htr into next ch, 1dc into next ch,  (ss, 2ch, ss) into last ch, (makes a point), working on opposite side of cast on ch, work 1dc into next ch, 1htr into next ch, 1tr into each of next 3ch, 3tr into last ch, ss to top of 3ch. Fasten off. (make in different colours if you wish)

Finishing – Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn, attach leaves randomly around flower.
