Textured Mug Cozy UK – A quick to make free crochet pattern that will be great for a last minute gift, especially if you put a mug with it.

This pattern is easily adjustable, you can just add more or less rows for the size.

Made in a pretty textured stitch design, it can be crocheted
with cotton or acrylic yarns.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Approx Finished Size:  Average mug size, but you can adjust to fit

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used approximately:-

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK (makes 6 cozies)

5.00mm Clover Crochet Hook, 1 medium button

Make 10ch loosely, work (1dc, 1tr) into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn.

Pattern Row – 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss next tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last tr and dc, miss 1tr, 1dc into last dc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 32 rows have been worked or work measures approx 9 inches from beg. (You can add more rows here for a larger mug)

Border – 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7st, 3dc into last st, working along first side of cozy work 1dc into each row end to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 7ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each row end up second side of cozy to corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. DNT.

Make 1ch, work crab stitch (see abbrev) down first side, along bottom, up second side, work across first 5dc, make 12ch, work crab stitch along last 5dc, ss to first dc.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Sew and tie off loose ends of yarn. Sew on button to correspond with loop, fasten button though loop.
