Because it is an open stitch pattern it crochet’s up really soft, so also ideal for shawls and wraps.

The sample was made in Stylecraft Special Double Knitting yarn using a 5.50mm Clover crochet hook

Make a chain length in multiples of 8 + 7.

1st Row – Work 1dc/tr in 4th ch from hook, 1dc/tr in next 3ch, * ch1, skip 1ch, 1dc/tr in next ch, ch1, skip 1ch, 1dc/tr in next 5ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

2nd Row – ch4, skip 1dc/tr, 1dc/tr in next dc/tr, * ch1, skip 1dc/tr, 1dc/tr in next dc/tr, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next dc/tr, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next dc/tr, ch1, skip 1dc/tr, dc/tr in next dc/tr,  * rpt from * to * to last dc/tr and 3tch, ch1, skip dc/tr, 1dc/tr in top ch3. Turn.

3rd Row – ch3, 1dc/tr in next 4st, * ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next st, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next 5st, * rpt from * to * to last 6st and ch4, work ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next st, ch1, skip ch1, 1dc/tr in next 3st, work 1dc/tr in 4ch space, 1dc/tr in 3rd of ch4. Turn.

Repeat the 2nd and 3rd Rows until you have the length you need.

Make in two colors if you want or you could use a variegated yarn, which would look stunning for throws etc.
