40 grams of James Brett Marble DK in colour 2

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Make 2 mitts the same. 

CuffWith 4.00mm hook and colour 1 make 20ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (19dc)

2nd Row – Working into BLO, (see abbrev) work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row until 30 rows have been worked in all.

Fold work in half (from bottom to top) so that the short sides of both ends are lined up, using 5.50mm hook ss along through both sides of work to make a round.

Continuing with 5.50mm hook from now on, turn your work on to the side so you are working into the row ends.

Row 1 – 1ch, work 1dc into each of next 30 row ends to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off. (30dc)

Join in colour 2.

Row 2 to 5 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Row 6 – (Inc Row) 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 12dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into next 2dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into each of next 13dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (32dc)

Row 7 – (Inc Row) 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 12dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into each of next 4dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into each of next 13dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (34dc)

Row 8 – (Inc Row) 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 12dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into each of next 6dc, 2dc into next dc, 1dc into each of next 13dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (36dc)

Row 12 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 13dc, miss next 14dc, (thumb) 1dc into each of next 14dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (28dc)

Slip stitching and turning at the end of each row, work 12 more rows of dc on these 28dc. Turn.

Row 29 – 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (6 times) ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off leaving enough yarn to gather top of mitt. (6dc)

Thumb Rejoin colour 1 to the first of the 14dc you missed earlier, make 1ch, work 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 13dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (14dc)

Slip stitching and turning at the end of each row, work 10 more rows of 1dc into each dc on these 14dc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap at base of thumb, gather top of thumb and top of mitt, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off. Turn through to right side, turn back cuff.

Slip stitching and turning at the end of each row, work 10 more rows of 1sc in each sc on these 14sc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap at base of thumb, gather top of thumb and top of mitt, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off. Turn through to right side, turn back cuff.
