Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-
50 grams of Kingcole Cottonsoft DK in each of the colours 1 & 2
TENSION – 4tr and 2 rows of tr’s measure approx 1 Inch

Coaster – Worked in rounds without turning throughout.With colour 1 make 6ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, 1ch, (RS) work 12dc into ring, ss to first dc on beginning of round.
2nd Round – 4ch, * (1tr, 1ch) into next dc, * rpt from * to * 10 more times, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (12, 1ch spaces)
3rd Round – Join in colour 2, 3ch, * 2tr into next 1ch space, 1tr into tr, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, 2tr into last 1ch space, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (35tr + 3ch)
4th Round – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch. Fasten off. (47tr + 3ch)
5th Round – Join in colour 1, make 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch,* miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 2tr into base of 3ch, ss to top of 3ch. Fasten off. (12, 5tr groups)
Make 2 more coasters the same.
Make 3 more coasters reversing the colours, (start with colour 2 not colour 1)
Coaster Basket
Base – Worked in rounds without turning throughout.
With colour 2 make 6ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, 1ch, work 12dc into ring, ss to first dc on beginning of round.
2nd Round – 4ch, * (1tr, 1ch) into next dc, * rpt from * to * 10 more times, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. Fasten off. (12, 1ch spaces)
3rd Round – Join in colour 1, 3ch, * 2tr into next 1ch space, 1tr into tr, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, 2tr into last 1ch space, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round.
4th Round – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch. (47tr + 3ch)
5th Round – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch. (59tr + 3ch)
6th Round – Working into back of stitch for this round only make 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round.
7th-9th Round – Working through both loops work 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
With colour 1, working into loose loops around the bottom of the basket, work 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch. (71tr + 3ch) Fasten off. Turn.
Next Round – Join in colour 2 and with bottom of basket away from you rejoin yarn to top of 3ch from row just worked, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss tr, ss to first dc. Fasten off. (18, 5tr Groups)
Coaster Basket Lid – Work same as basket to end of 5th Round.
6th Round – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch. (71tr + 3ch)
7th Round – Working into back of stitch for this round, make 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to the top of the 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
Next Round – Working into loose loops (created on 7th round). Join in colour 2 and with top of basket lid facing you, rejoin yarn to top of 3ch, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1tr, 5tr into next tr, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr 5tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss tr, ss to first dc. Fasten off. (18, 5tr Groups)
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
