A free pretty crochet mug cozy coaster uk format pattern, I have added a decorative edge to this free mug cozy pattern to make a combined effect, made in soft cotton, but you could use a randon colour double knitting yarn instead if you want.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn For 6 Cozies I have used:-
100 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft 100% Cotton Yarn in colour 1
100 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft 100% Cotton Yarn in colour 2

4.00mm Clover crochet hook, 1 Medium Button

TENSION – 5htr and 3 rows measures approx 1 inch square

(RS) work 2ch, 9htr into ring, pull loose yarn to close, ss to first htr on beginning of row. (9htr)

2nd Row – 2ch, 2htr into base of 2ch, 2htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. (18htr)

3rd Row – 2ch, 2htr into base of 2ch, * 1htr into next htr, 2htr into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last htr, 1htr into last htr, ss to first htr on beginning of row. (27htr)

4th Row – 2ch, 2htr into base of 2ch, * 1htr into each of next 2htr, 2htr into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last 2htr, 1htr into each of last 2htr, ss to first htr on beginning of row. (36htr)

5th Row – 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn.

6th Row – Working into front loop of stitch only, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.

7th Row – Working through both loops of stitch from now on, join in colour 2, work 2ch, 1ps (see abbrev) into base of 2ch, 1ps into each dc to end, ss to first ps on beginning of row. Turn. (36ps)

8th Row – (split for handle) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ps to end. Do Not ss to first dc. Fasten off. Turn. (36dc)

9th Row – Join in colour 1, make 2ch, 1ps into base of 2ch, 1ps into each dc to last dc, 1htr into dc. Turn. (35ps + 1htr)

10th Row – (Strap) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ps to end, make 8ch. Fasten off. Turn.

11th Row – Join in colour 2 to first of the 8ch, work 2ch, 1ps into same ch, 1ps into each of next 7ch, 1ps into each dc to last dc, 1htr into dc. Turn. (43ps + 1htr)

12th Row – (Buttonhole Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ps to last 3dc, make 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Fasten off. Turn. (42dc + 2ch space)

13th Row – Join in colour 1, make 2ch, 1ps into base of 2ch, 2ps into 2ch space, 1ps into each dc to last dc, 1htr into dc. Turn.

14th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ps to end. —- Fasten off. Turn.

15th Row – Miss 8dc, join colour 2 to next dc, make 2ch, work 1ps into base of 2ch, 1ps into each dc to last dc, 1htr into dc. Turn. (35ps + 1htr)

Edging – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 34ps, 3dc into next ps, work 1dc into next row end to the top of the strap, 1dc into each of next 7dc along top of strap, 3dc into corner, work dc’s evenly into row ends along side of strap, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of 7ch along bottom of strap, dc evenly in row ends down cosy to base of split, ss into base of split, dc evenly into row ends up to corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Fasten off.

Coaster – Return to loose loops on base of cosy, with top of cozy facing you, rejoin colour 1 to first loose loop, work 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each of next 2dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1dc into each of last 2dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (48dc)

Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Row 3 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1dc, 5tr into next dc, * miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, miss 1dc, 5tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off. (12, 5tr groups)

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach button to cozy to correspond with buttonhole.
