Have you tried our cobble or slip through hdc stitches.

 

 

I have used a 6.00mm hook and Stylecraft Special Aran yarn in colours white, mustard, pistachio, cornflower & fondant for the samples, looks lovely in any ply and colour though.

Abbreviations UK
RS.    Right Side

ch.     Chain
dc.     Double Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
yrh.   Yarn Round Hook

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

ps.     Puff Stitch
* yrh insert hook into next stitch and pull up loop, * (3 loops on hook)

Rpt from * to * twice (7 loops on hook)
yrh pull through the first 6 loops on your hook (2 loops on hook)
yrh pull through last 2 loops on your hook.

UK/USA INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in any even number + 1.

Using a main colour I have made 31ch for the sample, (RS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn (30dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn.

# # Join in contrast colour.

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc in base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 1dc in next dc, working across last dc into the missed dc, work 1ps, (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc in dc. Turn. (14ps)

Pick up main colour.

4th to 6th Rows – Rpt 2nd Row. Turn. # #

Rpt from # # to # # until required length.
