Shell Stroller Blanket UK – An easy and free crochet pattern for you to enjoy, I have made this pretty blanket in a close stitch of a flurry of shells, which makes it warm and cuddly.
Although I have called it a stroller blanket it can also be used for cribs, cots or prams.

Approx Size Finished: 30 x 33 Inches
Materials
200 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in colour 1
50 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in each of the 2 contrasting colours
4.50mm & 4.00mm Clover crochet hooks
TENSION – 5tr & 2.5 rows, measures approx 1 Inch

Using 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 122ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (121dc)
2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, 5tr into next dc, miss 2dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (20, 5tr groups)
3rd Row – 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, * 1dc into centre tr on next 5tr group, 5tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 3tr into last dc. Turn.
Fasten off. Join in a contrast colour.
# # 4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 2tr, * 5tr into next dc, 1dc into centre tr on next 5tr group, rpt from * to * to end, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
Fasten off. Join in colour 1.
5th Row – 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, * 1dc into centre tr on next 5tr group, 5tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 3tr into last dc. Turn.
6th Row – Rpt 4th Row.
7th Row – Rpt 5th Row.
Fasten off. Join in a contrast colour. # #
Rpt from # # to # # until 79 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 29 inches from beginning. Turn. (alternating the contrast colours)
Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1htr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into dc, * 1htr into each of next 2tr, 1dc into next tr, 1htr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * last 2tr and 3ch, 1htr into each tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
Border – Change to 4.00mm hook, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch across, 3dc into corner, work 117dc evenly into row ends down the first side of the blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each chain along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 117dc evenly into row ends up the second side of the blanket, 1dc into the corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around blanket, (working 3dc into each corner), ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt last row once.
Third Row – 4ch, * miss 1dc, 1tr into next dc, 1ch, * rpt from * to * around all four sides of blanket, working 3tr’s into each corner, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Shell Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1ch, 5tr into next tr, miss 1ch, 1dc into next tr, rpt from * to * to end, ss to the first dc.
Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
