Braided Loops Crochet Stitch – This is my version of the pretty jacobs ladder stitch, an easy 2 row repeat that has a stunning look when finished.

The instructions on how to crochet this stitch are written below in USA and UK format.

ch.      Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
dc.      Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
tch.    Turning Chain

Base of ch.   Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Make a chain length in multiples of 5 + 2 Loosely.

1st Row – 1dc in 4th ch from hook, (RS) 1dc in each of next 3ch, * ch10, 1dc in each of next 5ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

2nd Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, pushing the chain loops away from you onto the RS of your work, work 1sc in each dc to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in contrast color.

3rd Row – ch3, 1dc in each of next 4sc, * ch10, 1dc in each of next 5sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

4th Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, pushing the chain loops away from you onto the RS of your work, work 1sc in each dc to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

Fasten off. Change to contrast color.

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows changing color after every 2 rows until required length.

Pull each chain loop through the one below to connect them (see pics).

Edging – ch3, 1dc in each sc to end. Turn.

Second Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1sc in each of next 3dc, working over the ch10 loop, work 1sc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc and 3tch, work 1sc in each dc, 1sc in top of ch3.

Fasten off.
