The pretty crochet piggyback stitch pictorial has been added to my stitch library, it is an easy stitch pattern that can be used in many projects such as blankets, dishcloths, table mats etc.

Crochet Piggyback Stitch Pictorial

Abbreviations
USA or UK
Ch.         Chain
sc/dc.    Single Crochet/Double Crochet UK)
dc/tr.    Double Crochet, (Treble Crochet UK)
Rpt.       Repeat

Make a ch length in multiples of 3 + 2.

1)    Work sc/dc (UK) into 2nd ch from hook.

2)    * ch2, skip 2ch, work 1sc/dc (UK) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

3)    ch3.

4)    Work 1dc/tr (UK) into base of ch3, (first sc/dc)

5)    * Skip 2ch, work 3dc/tr (UK) into next sc/dc, * rpt from * to * to end.

6)    Work 2dc/tr (UK) into last sc/dc (UK).

I have changed color here, but you can continue in one if you wish.

7)    ch1, 1sc/dc (UK) into base of ch1, * make 2ch, skip 2dc/tr (UK), work 1sc/dc (UK) into next dc/tr (UK), * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

8)    Rpt steps 3 & 6.

 

Continue until required length is completed.
