Size to fit: Adult head, 18 inches circumference x 9 inches high

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
120 grams of Womens Institute Soft & Smooth Aran
5.00mm & 6.00mm crochet hooks, medium size faux fur pom-pom

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Ribbing – With 5.00mm hook make 19ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (18dc)
2nd Row – Working into BLO, work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 74 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.
Change to 6.00mm hook.
Fold work in half and slip stitch last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.
Body – Turn your work so you are working into the row ends of ribbing, make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end along side of brim to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (74dc)
Second Row – 1ch, work (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * miss 2dc, (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (25 groups)
Third Row – ss to first 1ch space, work (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into the same space, miss 1dc and 1tr work (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into each 1ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Third Row until nineteen rows have been worked or work approx measures 11 inches from bottom of ribbing. Turn.
Change to 5.00mm hook.
Top Shaping
Row 1 – Missing all 1ch spaces, make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (50dc)
Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * miss 1dc, work 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (25dc)
Row 3 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off leaving length of yarn to gather with. Turn.
Finishing – Thread loose thread though alternate dc, gather the top and secure, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, attach pom-pom to crown. Turn up brim by 2.5 inches.
