Crab Stitch. Working left to right, work dc backwards.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Approx Finished Size:   10 x 10 Inches  

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

30 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 1
20 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 2

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION – 1 pattern rpt & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 6

With colour 1 make 42ch, work 5tr into 6th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 1tr into next ch, miss 2ch, 5tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 6ch, miss 2ch, 1tr into next ch, miss 2ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (6, 5tr groups)

2nd Row – 3ch, * 5tr into next tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into next tr, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row changing colour after every two rows until 18 rows have been worked in all. Turn

Border – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr across, 3dc into corner, work 36dc evenly along into row ends down first side of cloth, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 36dc evenly along into row ends up second side of cloth, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, working 3dc into each of the corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row.

Work 1 row of crab stitch (see abbrev) Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
