Double Sided Crochet Potholder – This easy-to-make potholder is a free crochet pattern thick enough to protect your work tops, tables and hands from hot dishes.
A practical design that is pretty and will last for ages.

I used a soft cotton #3 yarn (DK for UK) and a 4.50mm hook for my samples.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn
I have used:-
60 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in each of the colours 1 & 2
TENSION – 4tr & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Make 2 pieces the same.
Worked in rounds without turning throughout
Using colour 1 make a magic circle, work 3ch 15tr into ring, pull loose thread to close ring, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.
2nd Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (31tr + 3ch)
Fasten off. Join in colour 2.
3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * make 1ch, miss 1tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, make 1ch, miss 1tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (16, 2tr groups)
4th Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, make 1ch, miss 1ch, ss to the top of 3ch on the beginning of row.
5th Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to next 1ch space, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each tr to next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, make 1ch, miss 1ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.
Fasten off.
Rpt 5th Row in colour sequence as follows:-
Three times in colour 1
Three times in colour 2
Fasten off.
Joining Border & Loop – Place WS of both of the pieces together, working on RS join colour 1 to a 1ch space, work (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into same space, # * miss 1tr, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to next 1ch space, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into 1ch space, # rpt from # to # to to last tr, work 1dc, 15ch, 1dc) into tr. Turn.
Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 20dc into 15ch space, 1dc into last dc turn, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Tack back of loop to dc, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
