Double Thick Cotton Potholder – A double thick easy to make potholder, that is large enough to protect your hands and tables from those hot dishes, made in 100% cotton yarn it also has a pretty edge to compliment your decor.

ch3 counts as first dc

Approx finished size:  11.5 Inches x 11.5 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used approximately:-

110 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft 100% cotton yarn

An equivalent yarn would be a Light Worsted #3 cotton

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

Double Thick Cotton Potholder

NOTE – You will be making 2 pieces the same and joining
them together.

# # ch42 loosely, (RS) work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 1ch, 3dc in next ch, skip 1ch, 1sc in next ch * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (10, 3dc groups)

2nd Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, skip 1dc, 3dc in sc, * rpt from * to * to end, working 2dc in last sc. Turn.

3rd Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, 3dc in next sc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, sc, dc and 3tch, skip 1dc, work 3dc in sc, skip 1dc, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows until 25 rows have been worked, rpt 2nd Row once, your work should measure approx 10 Inches from beginning. Turn. # #

Fasten off.

Rpt from # #  to # # once.

Do not fasten off.

Border – Place the WS of the pieces together so that RS of pot holder is facing, work through both pieces of potholder for this row, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and sc to end, 3sc in corner, work 38sc evenly in row ends down first side of pot holder, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each chain along starting chain edge, 3sc in corner, work 38sc evenly in row ends up second side of pot holder, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around all sides of pot holder, working 3sc in the three corners, 1sc in the last corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Pointy Edge (Including loop) – ch1, (2sc, ch2, 2sc) in base of ch1, * skip 2sc (2sc, ch2, 2sc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to first corner, 1sc in corner, ch15, 1sc in same corner, rpt from * to * around all the remaining sides, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Sew in and tie off loose ends of yarn.
