Scrubby Dishcloth

A free scrubby dishcloth pattern that is a cotton all purpose cloth, it’s smooth on one side for less abrasive cleaning and has bobbles on the other to shift the more stubborn stains on those pots, pans and dishes.

They are perfect for a last minute gift, a new home present or just make some for yourself.

Scrubby Dishcloth Free Crochet Pattern

ch.     Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
dc.     Double Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
sl st.  Slip Stitch
yo.     Yarn Over

dc5tog. Leaving last loop of each dc on hook, work 5dc in next sc, yo, pull through 6 loops.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Finished size approx:  9.5 x 9.5 Inches

70 grams of Patons 100% cotton DK in Color 1
Small amount of Patons 100% cotton DK in Color 2
2.5oz of Worsted Weight #3 100% Cotton in Color 1
Small amount Worsted Weight #3 100% Cotton in Color 2
5.00mm crochet hook

With color 1 ch34 loosely, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (33sc)

Row 2 – (WS) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * dc5tog in next sc, (see the abbrev), 1sc in each of next 2sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, dc5tog in next sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (11, dc5tog)

Rows 3 to 5 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn. (33sc)

Rpt Rows 2 to 5 eight more times, making 9 bobble rows in all. Turn.

Rpt Row 2 once.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn.

Edging – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 31sc, 3sc in last sc, working down first side of cloth, work 31sc evenly in row ends to corner, 3sc in corner, working along cast on edge, work 1sc in each of next 31ch to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 31sc evenly in row ends up second side of cloth to corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in color 2, starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, turning and sl st at the end of row, work 1sc in each sc around all four sides of cloth, working 3sc in corners.

Work the last row once more in color 2, followed by once in color 1. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends.
