Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

80 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

TENSION – 4dc & 5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Make 44ch loosely, (RS) 1dc into 2nd ch from hook 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (43dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. (21dtr)

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (43dc)

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows three more times. Turn.

10th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 1dc into each of next 26dc, rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (8dtr)

11th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn.

12th to 39th Row – Rpt 10th & 11th Rows (fourteen times) Turn.

40th to 47th Row – Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows (four times). Turn.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc across, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down first side of cloth, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up second side of cloth, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work 1 row of crab stitch (see abbrev) around four sides of cloth to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.
