Dishcloth:        10 x 10 Inches

Dishtowel:       15 x 15 Inches (not including strap)

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

80 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 1
60 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in each of the colours 2 & 3

4.50mm crochet hook, 1 medium button

TENSION – 5htr & 3 rows of pattern measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Dishtowel – With colour 1 make 62ch loosely, (RS) work 1htr into 3rd ch from hook, 1htr into each ch to end. Turn. (60htr + 2ch)

2nd Row – 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 2ch, * miss 2htr, (1dc, 2tr) into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last 2htr and 2tch, miss 2tr, 1dc into top of 2ch. Turn. Fasten off. (20 groups)

3rd Row – Join in colour 2, make 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each tr and dc to end. Turn.

4th Row – 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 2ch, * miss 2htr, (1dc, 2tr) into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last 3htr, miss 2tr, 1dc into last htr. Turn. Fasten off.

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows in colour sequence as follows:-

Twice in colour 3, twice in colour 1.

# Twice in colour 2, twice in colour 3, twice in colour 1 #

Rpt from # to # five more times, making 44 rows worked in all from beginning.

Edging – Continue in colour 1, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to last dc, 3dc into last dc, work 50dc evenly into each row ends down first side of towel, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, 50dc evenly into row ends up second side of towel, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each dc down first side of towel, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of towel, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc up second side of towel, 2dc into corner, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of next 2dc, * rpt * to * to end, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Top Shaping & Strap – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. (49dc)

Fourth Row – (dec row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (33dc)

Fifth Row – (dec row) 1ch, miss first dc, * dec 1dc over each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (16dc)

Sixth & 7th Rows – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Eighth Row – 1ch, dec 1dc over first 2dc, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (8dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 20 rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 2dc, make 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into each of last 3dc. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2dc into 2ch space to end. Turn. (8dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 row of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Cloth – With colour 1 make 42ch loosely, work 1htr into 3rd ch from hook, 1htr into each to end. Turn. (39htr + 2ch)

Next Row – 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 2ch, * miss 2htr, (1dc, 2tr) into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last 2htr and 2tch, miss 2tr, 1dc into top of 2ch. Turn. Fasten off. (13 groups)

Rpt # to # from dishtowel four more times, making 26 rows worked in all from beginning.

Edging – Continue in colour 1, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to last dc, 3dc into last dc, work 30dc evenly along into row ends down first side of cloth, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, work 30dc evenly along into row ends up second side of cloth, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch and working 3dc into the corners, work 1dc into each dc all around cloth to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn from cloth and dishtowel, attach button to correspond with buttonhole on dishtowel.
