Crochet Hanging Kitchen Towel – A lovely kitchen towel pattern that is crocheted in a soft light worsted cotton yarn. You can hang it anywhere in your kitchen as it is made with a buttoned strap at the top of the towel.

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

100 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK  yarn in colour 1
Oddment of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in colour 2

5.00mm & 4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook, 1 medium button

TENSION – 2.5 pattern rpt’s & 5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 2ch.

With 5.00mm hook and colour 1 make 52ch loosely, work (1htr, ss) into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, (1htr, ss) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1htr into last ch. Turn. (25 groups + 1htr)

Pattern Row – 1ch, (1htr, ss) into base of 1ch, * miss ss, (1htr, ss) into next htr, * rpt from * to * to last ss and htr, miss ss, work 1htr into last htr. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 10 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2.

11th to 15th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (51dc)
Fasten off at the end of 15th Row.

Join in colour 1.

16th Row – 1ch, (1htr, ss) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1htr, ss) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 1dc, 1htr into last dc. Turn.

17th to 60th Rows – Rpt Pattern Row. DNT.

Change to 4.00mm hook.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 58dc evenly along into row ends down first side of towel, 3dc into corner, 1dc into ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 58dc evenly along into row ends up second side of towel, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each st along top of towel, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 more rows of 1dc into each dc, working 3dc into corners, slip stitch and turning at the end of each row. Turn.

Top – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * Rpt from * to * to end. (28dc)

Second Row – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * dec 1dc (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of last dc. Turn. (19dc)

Third Row – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (10dc)

Fourth Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2.

Strap – Working into FLO, make 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end. Turn. (9tr + 3ch)

Working through both loops from now on make 3ch, work 1tr into each tr to 3tch, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt last row until 12 tr rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.

Using colour 2 return to loose loops at the beginning of strap and work 1 row of picot edge along. (see abbrev)

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach button to strap and fasten through the gaps in the stitches.
