Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

220 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby yarn in cream
60 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby yarn in buttercup
70 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby yarn in crocus

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook, 3.5 mtrs of 9mm ribbon

TENSION – 1 shell group & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

Make 141ch loosely, 1tr into 5th ch from hook. * miss 2ch, 5tr in next ch, miss 2ch, 1tr in next ch, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (17, 5 shell groups)

2nd Row – 4ch, 1tr into next tr, * miss 2tr, 5tr into next tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into next tr, 1ch, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, finishing last tr into 3rd of 4ch. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row four more times. Fasten off.

Repeat 2nd row in the following colour sequence,

# Buttercup x 6 times
Cream x 6 times
Crocus x 6 times
Cream x 6 times #

Rpt # to # once.

You should have 54 rows worked in all from beginning. Turn.

55th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into tr, * 2ch, miss 2tr, 1dc into next tr, 2ch, miss 2tr, 1dc into next tr, 1ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end finishing 1dc into 3rd of 4ch. Turn.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into next 1ch space, 1dc into next st, 2dc into next 2ch space, 1dc into next st, 2dc into next 2ch space, 1dc into st, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space and dc, 1dc into 1ch space, 3dc into last dc, work 108dc evenly into row ends down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, work 1dc into 1ch space, 3dc into last st, work 108dc evenly into row ends up second side of shawl, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each dc around all four sides of shawl, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc. Turn.

Third Row – 1ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into next dc, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1htr into next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working 3htr into each of the corners, ss to first dc. Turn.

Fourth Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr and 2ch space to end, working 3dc into each of the corners. Turn.

Fifth Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each dc around all four sides of shawl, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc. Turn.

Sixth Row – 3ch, 6tr into next dc, * miss 2dc, 1dc into next dc, miss 2dc, 7tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * all around 4 sides of shawl to end, ss into top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Seventh Row – Using crocus make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr and ss into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn. Starting on a corner thread ribbon through 2ch spaces between htr’s on border and tie in a bow.
