Really simple to crochet, just cross 1dc over another.

Free Crochet Stitch Tutorial-Cross Stitch
Abbreviations – USA
WS. Wrong Side
ch. Chain
sc. Single Crochet
dc. Double Crochet
Base of ch. Work in first stitch
ch3 counts as first dc.

Make a chain length in any uneven number.
First Row – (WS) Work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn.
Second Row – ch3, * skip next sc, 1dc in next sc, working across the front of the dc you just made, work 1dc in skipped sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, 1dc in last sc. Turn.
Change color here if you wish.
Third Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt Second & Third Rows for pattern, changing color every 2 rows (see pictures for color changes).
