Fringed Scarf

A simple fringed scarf to crochet, It is made in easy dc and trc stitches and is warm and soft to wear, I have made it in variegated yarn, but you could easily make in a solid color if you want.

Fringed Scarf Free Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations
WS.    Wrong Side

RS.     Right Side
ch.     Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
dc.     Double Crochet
trc.    Treble Crochet
rpt.    Repeat

fptrc.  Work trc around front post of the trc on row below
bptrc. Work trc around back post of the trc on row below

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Finished size approx: 60 Inches x 5 Inches (not including tassels)

Materials
100 grams of King Cole Melody

OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
3.5oz of Variegated Worsted Weight #3 Yarn

5.50mm crochet hook

GAUGE – 4dc and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

ch21 loosely, (WS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (18dc + ch3)

Next Row  – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * fptrc (see abbrev) around next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3 to turn with, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * bptrc around next trc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3 to turn with, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * fptrc around next trc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3 to turn with, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 114 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 60 Inches from beginning. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1 1sc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Fasten off. (19sc)

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each ch along the starting ch. Fasten off. (19sc)

Finishing – Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off.

Tassels x 20 – (10 each end) For each tassel cut 4 strands of yarn approx 5 inches long (or the length you require)

At each end of the scarf with RS facing thread 10 tassels in alternate sc’s, by folding each tassel in half and threading the open ends of the tassel through each of the sc, pull through loop you have created and secure, trim to make even.
