This large throw pillow cover can be made to be put on your bed, floor, large chair or just to cuddle up to.
I have made the sample in cream colored yarn with wooden buttons, but a more vibrant color and contrast buttons would look good too.
It’s an easy stitch pattern so even if you are a beginner crocheter you can give it a go, (impress your friends). Hope you enjoy!

Base of ch. Work in first stitch
ch3 counts as first dc
Finished size approx: 18 x 18 Inches (excl flap)
Materials
I have used:-
220 grams of King Cole Big Value DK
OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
7.80oz of Worsted Weight #3
4.50mm & 4.00mm Clover crochet hooks, 6 Wooden Buttons
GAUGE – 1.5 complete patterns & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch
With 4.50mm hook ch75, work vst (see abbrev) in 5th ch from hook, * skip ch1, 1dc in next ch, skip ch1, vst in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last ch2, skip ch1, 1dc in last ch. Turn. (18vst)
Next Row – (RS) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last sc in top of ch3. Turn. (18, 3dc groups)
Pattern Row 1 – ch3, * skip 1dc, vst in next dc, skip 1dc, 1dc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
Pattern Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last sc in top of ch3. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 38, 3dc group rows have been worked in all.
Flap – With 4.00mm hook ch1, 1hdc in base of ch1, * 1sc in each of next 3dc, 1hdc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (73st)
2nd Row – Working in back loop of stitch only for this row, ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, 1dc in each stitch to end. Turn. (73dc)
Work through both loops of stitch from now on.
3rd Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end. Turn.
4th Row – ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, 1dc in each sc to end. Turn.
5th Row – Rpt 3rd Row.
Rpt 4th & 5th Rows six more times. Fasten off.
Finishing – With WS facing fold work in half from bottom of work to start of of flap, whip stitch each side together to make an envelope.
Weave in all loose ends of yarn, sew 6 wooded buttons evenly along main piece and use gaps in the dc’s as buttonholes.
