Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
180 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in colour 1
30 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in colour 2
TENSION – 5tr and 3 rows measures approx 1 Inch

With colour 1 make 21ch loosely, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, miss 1ch, * (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next ch, miss 2ch, * rpt from * to * to last 5ch, miss 2ch (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (6, 2ch spaces)
2nd Row – (RS) 3ch, 3tr into each 2ch space to end, 1tr into last dc. (6, 3tr groups, 1tr + 3ch)
3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3tch, miss tr, work 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
4th Row – 3ch, 3tr into each 2ch space to end, 1tr into last dc. Turn.
Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows in colour sequence as follows:
Once in colour 2, twice in colour 1, once in colour 2.
Seventy three times in colour 1.
Once in colour 2, twice in colour 1 once in colour 2, twice in colour 1.
You should have 85, 3tr group rows worked in all from beginning. Turn.
Edging – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to 3tch, 2dc into top of 3ch, work 2dc into each of the 2nd Row ends and 1dc into each of the 3rd Row ends down first side of scarf, 2dc into corner, 1dc into each chain along cast on edge, 2dc into corner, work 2dc into each of the 2nd Row ends and 1dc into each of the 3rd Row ends up second side of scarf, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Beanie Hat – Made in rounds without turning until the end of the Fifth Row.
Make magic circle, work 3ch, 15tr into circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (15tr + 3ch)
Second Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (31tr + 3ch)
Third Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (47tr + 3ch)
Fourth Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (63tr + 3ch)
Fifth Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (79tr + 3ch)
Sixth Row – 1ch, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, miss 2tr, * (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 4tr, miss 2tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, miss 1tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (27, 2ch spaces)

Fasten off. Join in colour 2 with ss to top of 3ch.
Brim – Starting with (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, rpt Eighth Row. Turn.
Rpt Ninth Row. Turn.
Fasten off. Join in colour 1.
Rpt Eighth & Ninth Rows once.
Fasten off. Join in colour 2
Rpt Eighth & Ninth Rows once. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any ends of loose yarn on scarf and beanie hat, fold back brim onto right side of beanie. Make a medium size pom-pom in colour 2 and attach to the crown. I used Clover Pom-Pom maker size 65mm.
