Made for a 3-6 month baby on a 5.00mm hook, but to make the hat for different sizes you can use:-
Newborn baby use a 3.00mm hook
0-3 month use a 4.50mm hook
6-12 month use a 5.50mm hook

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

50 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
Small amount of King Cole in colours 2 & 3

5.00mm crochet hook

TENSION – 5dc & 6 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

With colour 1, make a magic circle, work 1ch, 10dc into circle, pull loose thread to close, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn.

2nd Round – (Inc Round) 1ch, 2dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 2dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (20dc)

3rd Round – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. 

4th Round – (Inc Round) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 2dc into next dc, * 1dc into next dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (30dc)

5th Round – Rpt 3rd Round.

6th Round – (Inc Round) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into next dc, 2dc into next dc, * 1dc into each of next 2dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (40dc)

7th Round – Rpt 3rd Round.

8th Round – (Inc Round) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, 2dc into next dc, * 1dc into each of next 3dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (50dc)

9th Round – Rpt 3rd Round.

10th Round – (Inc Round) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, 2dc into next dc, * 1dc into each of next 4dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (60dc)

11th to 31st Round – Rpt 3rd Round.

Brim – Working into BLO make 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (59tr + 3ch)

Second Round – 3ch, fptr around next tr, * bptr around each of next 2tr, fptr around each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr, bptr around each tr, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of the row. Turn.

Third Round – 3ch, * fptr around each of next 2tr, bptr around each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, bptr around tr, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of the row. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 2 and rpt Second & Third Rounds once. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends, turn up brim.

Bunny Rabbit Applique

Face – Made in rounds without turning in 3 contrast colours.

With white and 5.00mm hook make a magic circle, work 3ch, 12tr into circle, close circle pulling loose thread, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (12tr + 3ch)

Round 2 – (Inc Round) 3ch, work 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (24tr + 3ch)

Round 3 – (Inc Round) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, * 2dc into next tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off. (37dc)

Ears x 2 – With pink make 7ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 4dc, 3dc into last dc, working along opposite side of starting chain, work 1dc into each of next 5ch, ss to first ch. Fasten off. Turn. (13dc)

Join in white and starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off leaving a length of yarn to stitch ears to top of face.

Nose – With pink make 5ch, ss to first ch.  Fasten off.

Bow – (optional) With contrast colour make 8ch loosely, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (7dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row until 4 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.

Wrap contrast colour yarn around the middle of the dc piece several times to make the bow.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn, stitch ears evenly to top of face (about 2tr’s apart), Use small buttons for eyes, darn on nose and mouth with dark colour yarn as in picture, attach bow to bottom of face.

Join in white and starting with ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Fasten off leaving a length of yarn to stitch ears to top of face.

Nose – With pink ch5, sl st to first ch.  Fasten off.
