Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

100 grams of King Cole Baby Glitz in colour 1
40 grams of King Cole Baby Glitz in colour 2
20 grams of King Cole Baby Glitz in colour 3

4.50mm crochet hook

To make
For a 0-3 month size use a 4.00mm hook
For a Newborn baby use a 3.50mm hook

Small amount of 6mm ribbon for the neck and bonnet.

TENSION – 4 & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Coat – Worked in one piece starting with yoke.

Using colour 1 make 55ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn.  (52tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr and 3tch, work 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (62tr + 3ch)

Third Row – 3ch, 1tr in each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Fourth Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr and 3tch, work 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (77tr + 3ch)

Fifth Row – as Third Row.

Sixth Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (102tr + 3ch)

Seventh Row – as Third Row.

Eighth Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (135tr + 3ch)

Ninth Row – as Third Row.

Tenth Row (Divide for Armholes) – 3ch, 1tr into each of next 17tr, 2tr into next tr, make 1ch, miss 29tr, (first armhole) 2tr into next tr, work 1tr into each of next 38tr, 2tr into next tr, make 1ch, miss 29tr, (second armhole) 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 17tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (81tr + 3ch plus 2, 1ch spaces)

Commence Skirt – 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, miss 1tr, 1clv (see abbrev) into next tr, * miss 2tr, 1clv into next tr, * rpt from * to * to 2tr and 1ch space, miss 2tr, 1clv into 1ch space, miss 1tr, clv into next tr, rpt from * to * 13 more times, miss 1tr, 1clv into 1ch space, rpt from * to * to last tr and 3tch, miss tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (28clv)

Pattern Row – 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1clv into each 1ch space to end, 1tr into last tr. Turn. Fasten off.

Rpt Pattern Row in colour sequence as follows:-

Twice in colour 2, twice in colour 3, twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1.

You should have 10 cluster-V rows worked in all from yoke. Turn.

Coat Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr2tog and 1ch space across, 3dc into corner, work 37dc evenly into row ends up first front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each stitch around neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 37dc into row ends down second front edge to end, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc up the first front edge, 3dc into corner, around the neck, 3dc into corner, down the second front edge, 3dc into corner and along the bottom of the coat, work 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With WS facing join colour 1 to same tr at division underarm, make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 29tr, sl st to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (29tr + 3ch)

Second Row – 3ch, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr2tog) into base of 3ch, miss 2tr, * 1clv into next tr, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (10 clv)

Next Row – ss to next 1ch space, make 3ch, work (1tr, 1ch, tr2tog) into same 1ch space, work 1 clv into each 1ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row in colour sequence as follows:-

Once in colour 1, once in colour 2, once in colour 3, once in colour 2, twice in colour 1. Turn. (you should have 8 cluster-V rows worked in all from yoke)

Cuff – Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 rows of dc, ss and turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap under arms, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.

Thread a small length of ribbon through each side of neck opening and tie in a bow. (optional)

Bonnet – Make 58ch loosely, work 1clv into 5th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 1clv into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (18clv)

Rpt Pattern Row from Coat in colour sequence as follows:-

Once in colour 1, once in colour 2, once in colour 3, once in colour 2, twice in colour 1. Fasten off. Turn. (you should have 7clv rows worked)

Back Panel – Miss 7clv, join colour 1 to space between next 2 clv, (see pic) make 2ch, 1tr into same space, work 1clv into each of next 4 1ch spaces, 1tr into space between next 2 clv. Turn.

Brim – Join colour 1 to starting chain edge, make 1ch, work 1dc into base of 1ch,  1dc into each ch to end. Turn.

Work one more row in dc. Fasten off.

Finishing – With WS facing sew up side seams, turn through to RS, work 1 row of tr stitch evenly along neck edge. Fasten off.

Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate tr’s along neck edge and tie in a bow.
