Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Size approx:    30 inches x 30 inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in each of the contrast colours
200 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 2

5.50mm hook for blanket square and 5.00mm crochet hook for border

UK INSTRUCTIONS: 

Blanket Square – Made without turning throughout.

With colour 1 make a magic circle, (RS) make 3ch, work 2tr into ring, make 2ch, work * 3tr into ring, make 2ch, * rpt from * to * twice more, pull loose thread to close circle, ss to top of the 3ch on beginning of row. (4, 2ch spaces)

2nd Row – 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 2ch space, (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) into 2ch space, * rpt from * to * three more times, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2.

3rd Row – 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 2ch space, (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) into 2ch space, * rpt from * to * three more times, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.

4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 1dc into each tr to next 2ch space, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into 2ch space, * rpt from * to * three more times, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave and trim off all loose ends of yarn.

Make 25 blanket squares in first contrast colour and 24 blanket squares using second contrast colour.

Starting with a first contrast colour square join 7 squares together alternating the colors, see pic, make 7 rows of 7.


Border
– Using 5.00mm hook join colour 2 to any corner 2ch space, working (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into each of the 4 corners, work dc evenly into each stitch and 2ch space around blanket to end, ss to first dc on the beginning of row. DNT.

Starting with 1ch, work 1dc into 2ch space below, work 1dc into each dc around blanket, working (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. DNT.

Repeat last row in each of the contrast colours.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn from joining and border.
