Beginner stripes baby blanket, crocheted in a simple woven stitch, this one is ideal for beginners and the more experienced.
I have added a back loop stitch border to the blanket to give a nice finish to the edge. Hope you enjoy.

A 6.00mm crochet hook has been used for the main part of the blanket and a 4.50mm hook for the border, I have used #3 light worsted yarn in colors light brown and pink for the beginner stripes baby blanket.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
280 grams of Bernat Softee Baby yarn in colour 1
280 grams of Bernat Softee Baby yarn in colour 2
An equivalent yarn would be a double knitting
6.00mm crochet hook for main part and 4.50mm hook for border

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Made in multiples of 2 + 1.
With colour 1 and 4.50mm hook make 141ch.
Change to 6.00mm hook, work 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
2nd Row – 2ch, work 1dc into next 1ch space, * make 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 1ch space * rpt from * to * to last dc and 2tch (see abbrev) make 1ch, miss 1dc, work 1dc between last dc and 2ch. Turn.
Repeat 2nd Row twice in colour 1.
# Twice in colour 2, four times in colour 1 #
Repeat from # to # until work measures 28.5 inches from beginning.
You can use either colour 1 or colour 2 for border.
Border – Change to 4.50mm hook, make 1ch, work 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each 1ch space and dc along top, 3dc into corner, work dc evenly down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work dc evenly along second side of blanket to end, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. DNT.
Second Row – Working 3htr into each of the corners, make 1ch, work 2htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1htr into each stitch to end, 1htr into base of 1ch, ss to first htr on beginning of row. DNT.
Working into the 3rd loop at the back of the stitch, (see pic) repeat Second Row twice. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of work and trim off.
