Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Approx finished size:  11.5 Inches x 11 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used approximately:-

120 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft 100% DK cotton yarn

4.50mm Crochet Hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

You will be making 2 pieces the same and joining them together.

# Make 40ch loosely, (RS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (39dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 1tr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows until 43 rows have been worked in all, your work should measure approx 10 Inches from beginning. # Fasten off.

Rpt from # to # once.

Do not fasten off. Turn.

Border – Place WS of pieces together so that the RS of the pot holder is facing out, work through both pieces of potholder for this row, make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, 3dc into corner, work 43dc evenly into row ends down first side of pot holder, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each chain along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 43dc evenly into row ends up second side of pot holder, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. 

Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all sides of pot holder, working 3dc into the three corners, 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Pretty Edge (Including loop) – Make 3ch, work 2tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 2dc, work (ss, 3ch, 2tr) into the same dc, * rpt from * to * around potholder to end, make 20ch (loop) ss to ss on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and tie off any loose ends of yarn.
