tr. Treble Crochet
tch. Turning Chain
vst. (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into same space or stitch.
shell. (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same space or stitch.

Make a chain length in multiples of 8 + 7.
1st Row – Work vst (see abbrev) into 5th ch from hook, * miss 3ch, work shell (see abbrev) into next ch, miss 3ch, vst into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn.
2nd Row – 3ch, 1vst into 1ch space on next vst, * 1 shell into 1ch space on next shell, 1vst into 1ch space on next vst, * rpt from * to * to last 4tch, work 1tr into top of 4ch. Turn.
3rd Row – 3ch, 1vst into 1ch space on next vst, * 1 shell into 1ch space on next shell, 1vst into 1ch space on next vst, * rpt from * to * to last 3tch, work 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt 3rd Row until required length, changing colours to your choice as you go.
