Crochet Mug Rug Coaster – This is a cheery cotton striped coaster that is worked in a one row repeat grit stitch design, with a finishing touch of tied on corner tassels.

Approx Finished Size: 5 x 4.5 Inches (excluding tassels)
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, for 6 mug rug coasters I have used approximately:-
60 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in colour 1
36 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in colour 2
12 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in colour 3
TENSION – 5dc & 5 rows measures approx 1 inch

With colour 1 make 22ch loosely, working in back bump of ch (see pic), work 2dc into 2nd ch from hook, (RS) * miss 1ch, 2dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (21dc)
2nd Row – 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row in colour sequence as follows:-
Once in colour 1
Twice in colour 2
Once in colour 3
Twice in colour 2
Three times in colour 1
Twice in colour 2
Once in colour 3
Twice in colour 2
Three times in colour 1
Fasten off.
Tassels x 4 – With colour 1 cut 4 lengths of yarn approx 4 inches long for each tassel, (or your required length)
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, fold each tassel in half and thread open ends through a corner of the rug, pull ends through the loop you have created and tighten to secure, rpt for each corner. Trim tassels to make even.
