300 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby yarn

5.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks

TENSION – 5tr & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Tip! – As you work along the first row push the dtr to the front of your work to make the textured look.

With 5.50mm hook make 100ch loosely, (WS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * 1dtr into next ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (50dc and 49dtr)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (99dc)

3rd Row – Rpt 2nd Row.

4th Row – (RS) 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end. Turn. (98tr + 3ch)

5th & 6th Rows – Rpt 2nd Row.

As you work along the next row push the dtr to the front of your work to make the textured look.

7th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd to 7th Rows until there are 85 rows worked in all or work measures approx 24 inches from beginning. Turn.

Change to 5.00mm hook.

Decorative Edge – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to last dc, 3dc into the dc, work 97dc evenly down the first side of shawl, (working 1dc into each dc row end and 2dc into each tr row end), 3dc into corner, 1dc into each st along bottom of shawl, 3dc into corner, work 97dc evenly up second side of shawl, (working 1dc into each dc row end and 2dc into each tr row end), 1dc into base of 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all four sides of shawl, (working 3dc into each of the 3 corners), 1dc into base of 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Third Row – 3ch, 1tr into each dc around all four sides of shawl (working 3tr into each of the 3 corners), 1tr into base of 3ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Fourth & Fifth Rows – Rpt Second Row.

As you work along the next row push the dtr to the front of your work to make the textured look.

Sixth Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * around all four sides of shawl, (working 3dc into each of the 3 corners), 1dc into base of 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Seventh & Eighth Rows – Rpt Second Row.
