Long Shell Chevron Stitch – This beautiful free stitch tutorial is my version of the vintage fan ripple stitch, I have used a treble (dtr for UK) stitch, use to crochet baby blankets, afghans, throws etc.

Dec 1dc. Decrease 1 Double Crochet Pull up loop from each dc, yrh, pull through 3 loops.
4ch counts as first dtr.

Make a chain length in multiples of 9 + 1.
1st Row – 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into next 3ch, * 3dc into next ch, 1dc into each of next 8ch, * rpt from * to * to last 5ch, 3dc into next ch, 1dc into each of last 4ch. Turn.
2nd Row – 1ch, dec 1dc over first 2dc, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of next 3dc, * 3dc into centre dc of 3, 1dc into each of next 4dc, miss 2dc, 1dc into each of next 4dc, * rpt from * to * to the last 6dc, 3dc into centre dc of 3, 1dc into each of next 3dc, dec 1dc over last 2dc. Turn.
3rd Row – Rpt 2nd Row.
4th Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, ss into each of next 2dc, make 4ch, 1dtr into each of next 2dc, * 3dtr into centre dc of 3, 1dtr into each of next 3dc, miss 4dc, 1dtr into each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 6dc, 3dtr into centre dc of 3, 1dtr into each of next 3dc, turn leaving last 2dc un-worked.
Fasten off. Join in a contrast colour.
