Single Crochet Beanie-Scarf

Single crochet beanie-scarf set, look good in this free crochet hat and scarf set even when you are having a bad hair day, it’s a great easy one stitch single crochet (dc for UK) beginner pattern you will love making.

Just add more rows and chains to make the set bigger, you can also use a larger hook and thicker yarn.

Crocheted in a worsted weight #4 (Aran for UK) yarn, this set warm and cuddly and covers in all weathers, looks lovely in all colours.

I have used King Cole Comfort Aran in sky for the single crochet beanie-scarf set, but there are lots of other colours to choose from.

Crochet Hook Size & Other Materials

Pattern asks for a 6.00mm crochet hook for both pieces and 3 faux fur pom-poms, two for the scarf and one for the hat.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Size to fit:
Beanie: 20 inch circumference adult head

Scarf: 81 inch in length x 4 inches wide

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

250 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran yarn

6.00mm crochet hook, 3 medium sized faux fur pom-poms

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 2 + 1

Scarf – Make 281ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (280dc)

2nd to 18th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end.

Fasten off at the end of the 18th Row.

Finishing – Gather each end of scarf, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach a pop-pom to each end.

Beanie – Make 41ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (40dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row until 80 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 19 inches.

Fold your work in half widthways and slip stitch the last row you just worked and the starting chain edge together to make a round. Do not Fasten off.

Turn you work onto the side so you are working in row ends.

Top – (WS) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1 row end, 1dc into next row end, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (40dc)

Rpt the last row once. (20dc)

Fasten off leaving a long length of yarn to gather the top.

Finishing – Weave loose length of yarn through the last row of dc’s evenly to end and pull to gather tightly, secure the yarn so it does not break free, turn through to the RS and attach pom-pom to crown.
