Cowl: 6.5 x 36 Inches circumference
Hat:    20 x 9 Inches

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

170 grams of King Cole Comfort DK

5.00mm crochet hook, medium faux fur pom-pom

TENSION – 2 pattern rpt’s and 4.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Cowl

Make 122ch loosely, making sure you don’t twist the chain length ss to first ch to form a ring, (RS) make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (122dc)

2nd Round – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1bst (see abbrev) into next dc, * 1ch, 1dc into next dc, 1bst into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, make 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (61bst)

3rd Round – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, missing all 1ch spaces work 1dc into each stitch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (122dc)

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rounds until 27 rounds have been worked or work measures approx 6 inches from beginning. Turn.

Edging – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off.

Join yarn to starting chain edge and work 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off.

Beanie Hat

Brim – Make 10ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (9dc)

Second Row – Working into BLO (see abbrev) work 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt Second Row until 70 rows have been worked in all.

Fold work in half and ss last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.

Body – Turn work so you are working into row ends, (ss seam to the back) make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end along side of Brim to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (70dc)

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rounds from cowl until 31 rounds have been worked from rib or work measures approx 9 inches from beginning.

Decrease Top
Dec Round 1 – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (35dc)

Dec Round 2 – 1ch, * pull up loop from each of next 2dc, yrh, pull through 3 loops, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off leaving a length of yarn to gather top.

Finishing

Thread loose yarn through alternate dc, pull to gather and secure the end, weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, attach faux fur pom-pom to crown.
