Wattle crochet beanie hat, this lovely warm hat is crocheted using the wattle stitch, it is easy to make and worked upwards from the brim.
I have attached a faux fur pom-pom to the top, but you can make a yarn one if you want or leave without.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
110 grams of Caron Simply Soft in colour 1
Small amounts of Caron Simply Soft in colour 2
An equivalent yarn would be an aran weight
4.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks, medium size faux fur pom-pom
TENSION – 2 pattern repeats & 3 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Ribbing – With colour 1 and 4.50mm hook make 10ch, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (9dc)
2nd Row – Working into BLO, work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 92 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.
Fold work in half and sl st last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.
Change to 5.00mm hook.
Body – Turn your work so you are working into the row ends of ribbing, with ss seam facing, make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end along the side of brim to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (92dc)
Second Row – 1ch, work (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * miss 2dc, (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (31 groups)
Third Row – Work (1dc, 1ch, 1tr) into each 1ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Third Row in colour sequence as follows:-
Three Rows in colour 1
#One row in colour 2
Five rows in colour 1#
Rpt from # to # twice.
Rpt Third Row three more times.
Top Shaping
Decrease Row 1 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 2dc into each 1ch space to end. Turn.
Decrease Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * miss 1dc, work 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off leaving length of yarn to gather with. Turn.
Finishing – With WS of hat facing, thread loose thread though alternate dc, gather the top and secure, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, turn through to RS, attach pom-pom to crown.
