Crochet Popcorn Flower

This crochet popcorn flower can be added to any type of crochet project, use for headbands, mobile covers, purses, hair clips etc. or make several and sew together for larger items.

Crochet Popcorn Flower Free Crochet Pattern

Abbreviations
ch.      Chain
sc.       Single Crochet
hdc.    Half Double Crochet
dc.      Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
sl st.   Slip Stitch

pc.      Popcorn    (see pictorial here)
Work 5dc in next dc, drop the loop from your hook, insert hook from front to back through top of the first of the 5dc, pick up dropped loop and pull through loop on hook.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Approx size: 4 Inch Diameter

Materials
I have used:-
8 grams of Paintbox Simple DK in color 1
Small amount of Paintbox Simple DK in color 2

OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
0.30oz of Worsted Weight #3 in color 1
Small amount of Worsted Weight #3 in color 2

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

Worked in rounds without turning throughout.

Using color 1 make a magic circle, ch3, work 15dc in circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of the round. Fasten off. (15dc + ch3)

Round 2 – Join in color 2 with a sl st to top of ch3, ch3, 4dc in base of ch3, (drop loop from hook), inset hook from front to back in the top of ch3, pick up and pull dropped loop through the stitch on the hook) * ch2, skip 1dc, work 1pc in next dc, (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * to last dc, ch2, skip 1dc, sl st to first pc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (8pc)

Round 3 – (Petals) Join color 1 to any ch2 space, ch1, (1sc, ch8, 1sc) in same ch2 space, * ch1, skip 1pc, (1sc, ch8, 1sc) in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to end, ch1, skip 1pc, sl st to first sc.

Round 4 – * (1sc, 3hdc, 2dc, ch2, 2dc, 3hdc, 1sc) in next ch8 space, sl st in next ch1 space, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to the first sc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn.

This easy crochet popcorn flower is a delight to make, so make sure you pin it for later folks.

I can see these in Christmas colors all over my coffee table amongst my little pincones and ribbons. Too cute!
