Approx size: 5.5 x 5.5 Inches
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, for 4 coasters I have used approximately:-
40 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in each of the colors 1 & 2
An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3 Cotton
GAUGE – 5dc & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in rows without turning throughout.
With color 1, ch5, join with a sl st to form a ring, (RS) work ch3, 2dc, ch2 in ring, then * 3dc, ch2 in ring, * rpt from * to * twice more, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (4, 3dc groups + 4, ch2 spaces)
Fasten off.
2nd Row – sl st color 2 to first ch2 space, ch3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same space, * ch1, skip 3dc, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch2 space * rpt from * to * to end, ch1, skip 3dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
3rd Row – sl st across to first ch2 space, ch3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same space, * ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, ch1, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch2 space * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in ch1 space, ch1, skip 3dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
4th Row – sl st across to the first ch2 space, ch3, (2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same space, * ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, ch1, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch2 space * rpt from * to * to last 2, ch1 spaces, ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, ch1, skip 3dc, 3dc in next ch1 space, ch1, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
Fasten off.
5th Row – Join in color 1 to top of ch3 on previous row, ch3, work 1dc in each of next 2dc, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next ch2 space, * 1dc in each of next 17 stitches, (1dc, ch2 1dc) in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last 12 stitches, work 1dc in each stitch to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
6th Row – Working 3sc in all corners, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row.
Fasten off.
sl st color 2 to top of ch3 on previous row, work one row of crab stitch around to end, sl st to first stitch on beginning of row.
Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
