Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
120 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran yarn in colour 1
130 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran yarn in colour 2
5.50mm Clover Crochet Hook, 4 medium size buttons
TENSION – 4tr & 5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Cowl – Using colour 1 make 30ch loosely, work ss into 2nd ch from hook, * 1htr into next ch, ss into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (15ss + 14htr)
2nd Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 1htr into next htr, ss into next ss, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 72 rows have been worked or work measures approx 14.5 inches from beginning. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in colour 2, rpt 2nd Row until 139 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 32 Inches from beginning. Turn.
Buttonhole Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, 1htr into next htr, ss into next ss, 1htr into next htr, make 3ch, miss 2st, ss into next ss, * htr into next htr, ss into next ss, * rpt * to * to last 6st, make 3ch, miss 2st, rpt * to * to end. Turn.
Next Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, 1htr into next htr, ss into next ss, 1htr into next htr, work (ss, 1htr), into 3ch space, ss into next ss, * 1htr into next htr, ss into next ss, * rpt * to * to next 3ch space, (1htr, ss) into 3ch space, rpt * to * to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row three more times. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
Pull on Hat – With colour 1 make 70ch loosely, ss to first ch to make a round, make 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, htr into next ch, * ss into next ch, 1htr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first ss on beginning of row. Turn. (35ss + 35htr)
Second Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, 1htr into next htr, * ss into next ss, 1htr into next htr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first ss on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Second Row until 23 rows have worked or work measures approx 5 Inches from beginning. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in colour 2, rpt Second Row until 33 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 7 Inches from beginning. DNT.
Brim – Worked in rounds without turning.
With RS facing make 1ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of round. (70htr)
Next Round – Working into BLO (see pic) Make 1ch 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row.
Rpt last round three more times. Fasten off.
Join in colour 1 to starting chain edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (35dc)
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten of leaving a length of yarn to gather with.
Using colour 2 make a large pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker no 85
Finishing – Weave the loose length of yarn alternately through the last row of dc’s evenly to end and pull to gather tightly, secure the yarn so it does not unravel, attach buttons for decoration.
