RS.      Right Side

ch.      Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
hdc.    Half Double Crochet
dc.      Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
sl st.   Slip Stitch
yo.     Yarn Over
DNT.  Do Not Turn

cl.       Cluster (see tutorial)
Leaving last loop of each dc on hook work 2dc in next stitch, yo and pull through 3 loops.

Crossed Cluster Group. (see tutorial)

fpdc.    Front Post Treble Crochet (see tutorial)
Work dc around front post of the dc on row below.

bpdc.   Back Post Treble Crochet (see tutorial)
Work dc around back post of the dc on row below.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

To Fit:  Adult approx 20 – 22 Inch Head

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used approximately:-
75 grams of Lion Brand Baby Soft

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

GAUGE – 5dc & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in continuous rounds without turning to end of the 5th Row

Make magic circle, (RS) ch3, work 15dc in circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. (15dc + ch3)

2nd Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (31dc + ch3)

3rd Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to the top of ch3 on the beginning of row. (47dc + ch3)

4th Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (63dc + ch3)

5th Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (79dc + ch3)

6th Row – ch1, 1sc in each dc to last dc, skip dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (78sc)

7th Row – ch3, * skip next sc, work 1cl (see abbrev) in next sc, working in front of the cl you just made, work a cl in the sc you skipped, 1dc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, work crossed cluster group over 2sc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (26, crossed cluster groups)

8th Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end, sl st to first sc on beginning row. Turn.

Rpt 7th & 8th Rows six more times or until 20 rows have been worked in all from the crown. Turn.

21st Row – ch1, 1hdc in base of ch1, 1hdc in each sc to end, sl st to first hdc on beginning of row. DNT.

Rib Row – ch2, fpdc around hdc on base of ch2, bpdc around next hdc, * fpdc around next hdc, bpdc around next hdc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first dc on beginning of row.

Fasten off.

Make a large pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker Number 65

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach the pom-pom securely to crown.
