Alpine Crochet Cushion Cover – Decorate your home with cushions. This cover can be used on your bed, sofa or patio chairs.

Crochet using double crochet (tr for UK) stitch on the back and alpine design on the front, this gives a lovely textured feel and look, ideal for throwing on your chairs or even the floor to sit on.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

To Fit an Approx Size:-  18 x 18 Inch Cushion Pad

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

140 grams of King Cole Baby Comfort DK in colour 1
35 grams of King Cole Baby Comfort DK in colour 2
70 grams of King Cole Baby Comfort DK in colour 3

4.00mm crochet hook, 3 medium size buttons

TENSION – 5tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 2 + 1

Front
With colour 1 make 75ch loosely, (RS) work 1tr into 3rd ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (73tr)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, do not work into top of 2ch. (73dc)

3rd Row – 2ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of 2ch, * fpdtr around the tr below the next dc, 1tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Turn.

5th Row – 2ch, 1tr into stitch at the base of 2ch, 1tr into next dc, * miss next dtr, work fpdtr around the tr below the next dc, 1tr into next dc * rpt from * to * to the last dc, work 1tr in dc. Turn.

Rpt 2nd to 5th Rows once. Fasten off.

Rpt 2nd to 5th Rows in colour sequence as follows:-

Twice in colour 2
Eight times in colour 3
Twice in colour 2
Twice in colour 1

Back
66th Row – 2ch, 1tr into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1tr into each stitch to end. Turn.

Rpt 66th Row 43 more times. Fasten off.

With WS facing fold work in half lengthways and whip stitch or ss sides together, turn through to RS.

Flap
Join colour 1 to starting ch edge, (see pic) work 2ch, 1tr into stitch at the base of 2ch, 1tr into each ch along edge to end. Turn.

Second to Eighth Row – 2ch, 1tr into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1tr into each tr to end. Turn.

Fasten off at the end of Eighth Row.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew buttons to cushion cover and fasten through the spaces between stitches or crochet three ch5 loops evenly along last row of flap as buttonholes.
